What is Community Education

Community education is a process of learning and change. It takes place within the community and is based on the needs of individuals and their communities. It provides flexible, learning options for people in their own local areas.

What does the Community Education Service provide

The Community Education Service facilitates and supports community based education classes for a range of groups in local centres throughout Co. Kilkenny. Courses are provided in association with a variety of groups, e.g. Women’s groups, disability groups, active retirement groups, local development groups.

Classes generally run for 6 – 10 weeks and a minimum number of 10 participants required to begin a class. Subjects include Art, Dancing, Crafts, Personal Development and Community Hall Management.

If your group is interested in setting up a community education class, we can help you.
